Program Overview
Mindfulness: I Can Be Present is an engaging and reflective program that introduces mindfulness through literature, creative expression, and guided self-awareness. Using the book Here and Now by Julia Denos, illustrated by E.B. Goodale, participants will explore how being present fosters emotional well-being and appreciation for the world around them. Through hands-on artistic activities, students will illustrate their present moment using line, color, and composition.
Program Objectives
Participants will:
Engage in a Reflective Chart Activity – Categorize PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE to develop awareness of time and its impact on emotions.
Illustrate a Present Moment – Use pencil and marker to visually represent a meaningful moment.
Express Mood through Color – Apply color theory to express emotions within their composition.
Write & Reflect – Craft two sentences describing their artwork and their emotional experience in the present moment.
